El Sueño Resort and Restaurant

Posted: March 29, 2013 in Restaurants

El Sueño Resort and Restaurant is a newly opened restaurant in Lapu-lapu. At first glance you would think it’s a spa because of how the restaurant looks from the outside. Sueño is a Spanish word which means “dream”. So this restaurant must mean “The Dream”. The restaurant name itself is derived from its proprietor’s name. I know Mr. Susumu Ueno because he is a good friend of my boss. I’ve met him in the few events that I attended, in fact, we were having sea trek together 2 years ago. He is a very accommodating person.

The restaurant is open from 10 am to 12:00 pm. What’s nice about this restaurant is that you can always have your choice. You can dine at the Filipino cottage or at their Japanese cottage. I like the Japanese cottage better because it’s not the usual dining experience that I always have. The ambiance is really good and I recommend it to people who like to impress a date.

I like the concept

I tell you the foods are not very affordable. That’s just my personal opinion. That is from someone who tries to survive her 58-peso budget everyday. But for some, the restaurant’s rate might just be okay. If you ever plan to dine here, they have set menu that costs 500 pesos per pax, excluding drinks.

The Foods:

Pochero Soup – 550 pesos

Menu

I was caught in the act. I looked really excited. LOL

Image

Wine. I don’t know how much is this.

Image

One look at this and I can’t help myself. I have to really laugh

Image

He wants to be served. I did this one last time. I will miss him terribly. :-(

One of the waitresses. I forgot her name.

And I just have to include this wehehhehe

The guy in front is Mr. Ueno

The restaurant is located at Saac Brgy. Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City

Telephone number: 236-7227

I enjoyed the dinner. I don’t really love everything that was served. I know why. Probably because I was looking at the prices yet again. Me and my habit. I sometimes think I become bias because I consider the rates first before the taste.

You should try Ox Tongue Sisig. I just love it. It is one of their best. The three colored friend chicken is really delicious too. I was really curious about this menu. I even thought with ignorance that the chicken must have 3 colors. The chicken has 3 flavors, pepper, chili and curry. With all honesty, I wonder why I can’t really tell the difference. LOL. The wonders chicken do to me. I just love it regardless of how it is cooked.

I don’t recommend Callos El Sueño because I can’t understand the taste. At 290 pesos, this should be all worth it. The Leche flan is not good too. It’s too sweet. I think they put too much sugar on it and it felt like its all sugar and no milk.

And lastly, these rates are all exclusive of VAT.

Lim Nang

Posted: March 29, 2013 in Restaurants

This is a very late post. We dine here in the middle of February to celebrate Sheryl’s birthday. I don’t know why I forgot to blog about this night when it was a really fun night.

Anyways, this is what will happen to you when you don’t have any plans or when you don’t have any options other than your original plan. Sheryl and I dined here only because we didn’t have any other choice or more like because my wallet didn’t have any other choice. We originally planned for SAm’s 50′s dinner but unfortunately there was an event that night. So, we found ourselves sitting at a restaurant called Lim Nang.

For most people this could have been an ordinary dinner but for people like us, dinning here could mean a celebration of a very special event like a birthday.

Lim Nang is located at Parkmall. The place looks like any ordinary fast food restaurant, nothing fancy. When we got to the place, only few people were dinning and we liked it that way.

On the opposite table dined a family. I can’t help but stare at them. I thought how lucky those kids were. I remember as a kid that my parents never brought me to Jollibee. I could never remember a time that I ate at Jollibee in Elementary. My first Jollibee was in high school. We had this agape in school and it was decided that we just order at Jollibee. In college, I rarely eat at a fast-food restaurant. Maybe I did once, I can’t remember so probably just once, twice would be too much. I always had my packed lunch with me to save. Looking at them, I wonder if those kids ever appreciate it. I hope they do.

I hope one day, if God permits and I will have my own kid, I’d like her to experience the finer things in life. The things I never get to experience as a kid. Anyway, I think I know where I am going with this blog. I will get mushy soon, so enough…

This is what we had for dinner.

Image

Sweet and Sour Fish Rice at 135 pesos.

I know that Sheryl doesn’t like sweet and sour but this really looked cute in the menu. So, I ordered this for her.

Image

Porkchop Rice at 120 pesos

This is what I had and I just love it. It tasted ordinary, just like what I expected.

Image

Siomai at 80 pesos

I was honestly not impressed with this. The siomai at “kilid-kilid” tasted way better than this.

Image

Our dessert. I don’t exactly how much is this. This is Gulaman blah blah blah. I forgot the name

Image

Both Sheryl and I had ice tea  The only reasonable drinks to order. The only drinks that is acceptable with our very limited budget.

Image

There are a lot of foods to choose from. Had our money been enough, we would have tried a variety of foods from the menu. If only…

Image

You think I am checking out the foods? I Was calculating. Yes, I get too serious with numbers.

Image

All smiles

Image

There goes the birthday girl.

Image

My evidence. She’s sooo caught in the act.

Image

For your information, we dine upstairs. :-)

The dinner was just simple. It wasn’t expensive but it’s special like any other dinners that we had. I think we both needed this. A time to unwind, a time to give back to ourselves. A time to go out and have this simple experience yet with so much memories to hold. I especially hate this love month but it was fun. February 2013 is after all fun.

After dinner we walked from Parkmall to our house in Maguikay. Sheryl and I loves to walk. It’s not just because we wanted to save fares but its one of our stress reliever as well.

Her birthday celebration didn’t end there because we stopped by 7th eleven to eat icea cream. This is another thing that we both wouldn’t miss should we have enough budget. We both love ice cream.

Image

Magnum. Her first. Sheryl’s first Magnum and she was not satisfied and I just don’t know why. Maybe because she paid for it? Wahahaha. You know when you’re paying, you can’t help but taste your money’s worth as well.

Sheryl at 29. We’ve both come a long way.:-)

Cheers to both of us. I still do think we are both a very beautiful soul.

This floating restaurant is located in Day-as Cordova. To me the place is quiet far from our office even when it is only within Lapu-lapu. I have relatives from this place and I was often told as a child that it is never safe to roam around unchaperoned. Should you decide to have dinner here, it is best to have your own service.

Introducing Lantaw Restaurant. I think the best view would be at night

Image

I like how the lights made the place look so alive

Image

You have to pass here to get to the main restaurant. Everything here seems to be made of bamboo. I like how it seemed to move when I pass by.

Image

Lantaw… Everything is almost green. Almost…

Image

I like the idea that the kitchen is actually open and you can check how they prepare the foods. You can see that the kitchen is really clean.

Image

This is cute.

Image

This is the waiting area. I believe on busy days, costumers have to sit here to wait for their turn. When we got to the restaurant, there were still lots of available tables. I think they are very very organize.

Image

I just love the place. Nice and quiet

THE FOODS:

Image

PANCIT CANTON = 210 PESOS

Image

BAKED TAHONG – 130 PESOS

Image

CORDOVA EXPRESS- 145 PESOS

Image

CALAMARES- 210 PESOS

Image

CRISPY PATA LARGE – 425 PESOS

Image

BUTTERED CHICKEN- 150 PESOS

Image

SISIG -130 PESOS

Image

CORDOVA COLLER – 165

I love the food, the buttered chicken especially. I  so love it. There is something special about this chicken. Maybe because it’s really deep friend. The Cordova Express reminded me of Dumaguete express ,the later is more delicious though. But the Pancit cantoon to me is normal. I won’t order it again hehehe. All in all it’s good.

Everything in the menu is affordable. The price is worth it. The ambiance of the place is perfect especially for lovers. I believe this place will surely impress a date.

Here is the rest of this restaurant:

Image

They also have a private are that will accommodate around 12 to 15 pax

Image

Whew… I belong :-)

I have to thank Mr. Cesoy for our transportation.

I’d like to go back here one day on a broad daylight. I am wondering if the water around the restaurant is clean. I want to see the difference. My brother disliked the place. He even told me its boring and there is nothing to look forward about this place. Bitter? LOL. I don’t know, we have different taste. He could sometimes be a very vicious critique.

But tell you what , you will love the place. Never listen to my little bro. :-)

Here is the contact number: 514-2959. It is best to have a reservation so you wont have to wait long.

Chicken Bar F & B Restobar

Posted: March 14, 2013 in Restaurants

This restaurant is located at 10 Shangs Island Town Center, Maribago Lapu-Lapu City.

This is a new restaurant. I dined here with my new boss Mr. Masaya Harada. My first and sure will be my last in this restaurant. I love chicken, that’s a fact but I just couldn’t stand this expensive restaurant.

Anyway, here’s some of the pics I took:

Image

Friend Chicken that costs 500 pesos.

The taste is normal and it’s uber expensive. It taste almost the same with the 13 peso chicken that I am so crazy about. I can’t imagine that this costs 500 pesos with just a few pieces. My gulay!!!

Image

Chicken Salad at 450 pesos.

I was not impressed. It’s a little spicy. Normal and I don’t understand the taste. They could try to do better next time. This is not worth 450 pesos.

Image

 Chicken Dongjip at 350 pesos

Another disappointment.

Image

This is an egg. I think they serve this for free as an appetizer.

I love any chicken recipe. I just didn’t appreciate the taste mainly because I think it’s too expensive.

Everything here is not worth the price.

I won’t recommend this to people who are so conscious with prices. So-not-worth-it!!!!

But I had fun at this dinner though. My new boss is a charmer. He can’t speak English well but he’s trying his best. This is my first private dinner with him. I am so looking forward to working with him.

Sam’s 50’s Diner

Posted: March 14, 2013 in Restaurants

I originally planned to treat Sheryl at Sam’s 50′s for her 29th birthday. I was assured by her that my 500 peso-budget will do. Unfortunately last February, there was an event so we had to look for another restaurant. We dined at Lim Nang instead(reminded me that I haven’t posted anything about  that dinner yet). Anyways, there’s always a next time and girls like us don’t forget our wants that easily. March came and finally we came to visit the place.

I called of course to double check to make sure that we will never have to postpone our plans again like last time. It is a must to always check especially if you don’t have any second option. I smiled at the thought of going out again with my best travel pal.Dining is a good thing for both of us. We realized that we are too old for night life’s and too grown up for discos. Each dinner out is very special.

Sam’s 50′s Dinner is located at North Reclamation, a few blocks from Cebu Doctor’s University. It is so easy to locate the place especially at night, I bet. I pass here everyday but I was oblivious to the place until Sheryl pointed out to me that there’s one interesting restaurant in the area.

When we got to the place, I expected it to be 100% 50′s like the blogs I’ve read. The first thing I noticed was that the music was very modern. I told Sheryl that and she tried to reason like she always does that there are a lot of students who dine here. Young people loves modern music. The place is very convincing though. Pictures of Elvis Presley everywhere. I think I saw a big pic of Marilyn Monroe.

Here are the pics. I hope you’ll feel the 50′s vibe:

Genius…. My shoot :-)

Here are the foods:

The foods are not expensive. It is very affordable. I’m awed at the ambiance of the place and the food itself:

Image

Sizzling pork tenderloin at 120 pesos

This is my choice and Sheryl thought this taste a lot better than her Bimbimbap. Her Bimbimbap looks better though.

Image

Bibimbap at 140 pesos

Sheryl and I agreed in each dinner out that we cannot , we just cannot order the same food. So, she had this. The presentation is good. I love the egg on top. Sheryl was more impressed with my tenderloin though. Maybe because bibimbap is a little sweet.

Image

I tried to stop her from ordering coffee but I just couldn’t tell her what to do so I gave in. I thought it was better she order something different. But she is Sheryl, a headstrong Sheryl, so be it!

Image

Fruit Shake (Watermelon) at 95 pesos

I ordered my usual mango shake but fortunately they ran out of supply so I was forced to have watermelon. They also have banana but I thought watermelon is a safer choice as I am not a fan of banana shake or juice. I was just glad that I had watermelon. I loved the presentation and loved the taste even more. My first time. I learned from that dinner that other than a mango shake, I could also have a watermelon shake. I am however ditching banana shake for life….

Image

Brownie A La Mode at 75 pesos

It’s like a brownie topped with ice cream. I love this. Sheryl consumed most of the brownie. Yes, she hates chocolates but when I am not eating eat , she is! :-)

Image

Apple cobler at 75 pesos

I don’t like apples and I told Sheryl that. She had this anyway and I just couldn’t complain. I love the ice cream. I hate the cinnamon sprinkled on top of the ice cream though.

Image

Image

Cheese Burger with fries at 80 pesos

It was I who insisted that we should have a burger. I’ve read that they don’t make the best burger and I just wanted to try. I thought that whoever wrote that blog might just be unlucky. What I’ve read proved to be true, the patty was nothing compared to Jollibee. It was salty and salty.

Image

Sheryl and I. Our satisfied smiles :-)

Image

Image

There was something about the lights that made us look even prettier than usual. I lab it!

Image

Sample menu

Image

Pick….

Image

It started to get crowded. Thank God we’re done

Image

This is cute

Image

And who could forget this? I forgot to ask what is this. But there are old songs listed on the upper part. Elves is more handsome in person wahahahah….

Image

Mix and match. I love what I did with my outfit.

Image

I like how Sheryl posed for the camera.

If I will be given another chance, I’d like to go back here and try the other foods in the menu. This is a great place to chill. Should you decide to bring a date with you, I tell you, she won’t notice that the place isn’t that expensive.

I don’t have any complain about the food and the place except that they don’t have a comfort room. Why??? Any restaurant should have a comfort room. That is very important and it is a must. The comfort room although from the same building, it is very far.

They are lucky I just love the food and the ambiance of the place. They are safe for now. They should have a CR……
